Unsolicited SEO offer
Today I got an instant message from a guy pitching his link building services. It seems he got my im username from my Digitalpoint profile.
What PR do you want?
I don't want PR I want to be ranked in the top 10 for Microsoft Windows
I got a really long pause and then the guy came back
I can do it for you but its going to cost you a lot and instead of a month its going to take 3 months
I was blown away by the time frame but I asked for the cost anyway
2000$ US Dollar, came the quick reply
I asked for his secret
He has people on the inside that manipulate the results in his favor and he has software than can do 10,000 link exchanges in 3 months.
He proceded to show me some of his results but he used the age old tactic of searching for the name of the site and showing me the number one rankings as proof.
I've done a lot of cleanup work on websites that the previous SEO left in a mess. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Simple logic will tell you that $100 cannot get your site ranked in the top 10 for common terms such as Microsoft Windows or Gifts. There is no secret to SEO, it is slow, methodical and tedious work.
