Spartan Race Complete!
Yesterday, I completed the Spartan Sprint in Tuxedo, NY. It was probably the most physically demanding thing I've ever done. The 5k race was comprised of mud runs, obstacles, trail racing, physical challenges and mental challenges. My time was slow, approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes but I'm glad I was able to finish because I was almost ready to quit after the first mile which was a step vertical hike. I recommend doing it with a team, one member should be someone who has done this type of race before. They will be able to assist you throughout the obstacles or help you do burpees if you can't complete an obstacle. I did it with a team of 3 co-workers.
It gave me a sense of what to train for. I'm ready to do the 10k New York Down and Dirty Mud Run on September 29th.
All in all I got exactly what was promised on the Spartan Race site.
Aid Stations: Yes, we will have some on course. We do recommend hydratrating before and/or carry your own water. Or plan on drinking nasty retention pond water while you are sloshing through it (not recommended).
